Turtle Love
My Bestie recently went on a Harley Davidson vacation ride with her hubby and brother-in-law & sister-in-law. During the trip they stopped and did some shopping and she bought me this lovely turtle necklace. Those who know me know that this is a perfect gift for me. I am (and have always been) a turtle lover. I love turtles as much as I love elephants! They are old souls with history and wisdom in their eyes and I always feel like I connect with both turtles and elephants.
Perhaps yet another reason I love yoga as it is a very old practice that puts me in touch with both my emotional and creative natures and nurtures my old soul (random insertion there but it occurred to me as I wrote about the turtles and elephants)!
When I think of turtles I can think of many encounters I have had with them throughout my life but one of my favorites was when I was getting scuba certified and I was doing “open air” cave dives near Tampa, FL. On the day I had to do my skills test I had a curious terrapin turtle tagging along with me as I showed the required skills. I almost failed thanks to my little turtle buddy - he distracted me as I did my compass skills where I wasn’t allowed to look up to orient myself but I caught him out of the corner of my eye and looked up startled. Thankfully my scuba teacher saw the turtle and gave me a pass on it!
As I reflected on the lovely necklace my bestie gave me I got inspired and realized I would like to do a turtle piece for myself. Something I can add into the ever growing collection of turtles (and yes elephants as well) that I have in my home. I am currently researching some design ideas but am leaning toward something abstract and colorful. I will share more as I progress on this project.
