SDSU themed platter

Last week when I shared the cranberry irid platter I had made I got a special request from a friend of mine to make a platter with South Dakota State University (SDSU) colors. I just happened to have some lovely blue & yellow glass so I got to work.

I used two 12” X 12” squares of glass. One clear and one with lovely blue & yellow glass on a clear background. I started with a full fuse for the two sheets of glass, utilizing clear frit powder and a bubble squeeze to minimize the potential for bubbles between them. Then I slumped the glass piece over a mold to make the platter.

The colors came out beautiful and the shape is perfectly formed.

I started with a single sheet of beautiful blue & yellow glass on a clear background. I layered clear glass, clear glass powder & the blue & yellow glass. I put this in my kiln for a full fuse utilizing a bubble squeeze to try to minimize the bubbles between the layers. I then placed the fused glass on the kiln washed mold to slump it into the platter shape.
