Prepping the kiln shelf
In order to begin firing glass I needed to prep the kiln shelf so the melted glass doesn’t stick to it when firing. I watched some videos and got to work. First I had to lightly clean the shelf, then mix the hi-fire primer, then paint the primer on. After the primer dried I lightly “sanded” the top using copy paper. This gave the shelf a smooth surface that should allow the glass to fire without having grooves or issues on the underside that is in contact with the shelf. And now I am all ready to do some test fires to validate the temps for textured and full fuse runs.
